Who We Are

We are the Augustyn family, our family established Canopy Gardens in 1995 by growing the highest quality tomatoes, cucumbers and basil in the Northwoods of Wisconsin. Since 2020, as the second generation, we have proudly carried on that responsibility. We have gone through two major greenhouse expansions and multiple product line expansions. We use sustainable hydroponic growing methods, avoid GMO’s, harmful pesticides and herbicides.

We believe that food should be healing and beneficial to the body and sourced locally when possible. As our product line continues to grow we maintain the quality, standards and superior flavor that customers have come to expect from us. We are committed to bringing safe, nutritious and quality produce to Wisconsin and supporting our local communities.

What is Hydroponics, and isn’t it tasteless?

Hydroponics is simply growing plants in a water and nutrient solution, rather then soil. We provide the nutrients that the plants were intended by nature to have, in precisely the right proportions. This allows us to have absolute control over how nutritious and delicious our produce is. We have 25+ years of experience that we use to get the nutrient solution just right for the best tasting tomatoes and healthy plants. Because we use controlled environment technology we are able to have the ideal conditions for growth which allows us to avoid using any harmful pesticides or herbicides while producing the highest quality produce.

Food in the 1950’s had higher percentages of vitamins and minerals then food grown today. Thankfully because we can control exactly what gets fed to our plants, we can have produce that has higher nutritional value then foods grown conventionally these days, bringing our nutritional values much closer to previous levels.

Hydroponics is the most water and space conserving method of growing currently out there. This method of growing also helps prevent soil erosion. Did you know that half of the topsoil on the planet has been lost in the last 150 years? Some of the issues caused by soil erosion is a loss of fertile land, less nutritious food, increased soil acidity, increased water pollution, more floods and many other problems.
